About CLAY Team Sports Ministry

About CLAY - Athlete's Pledge - CLAY Code - Registration Center - Why Sports Ministry?

In 1896 (just five years after the game was invented by James Naismith), the first sanctioned basketball game took place at the Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA) in Erie, Pennsylvania. "Church league basketball" would later be administered by the local YMCA through the Erie County Church Athletic Association (ECCAA) until 2004 when the torch was passed to the Christian League of Athletics for Youth (CLAY). CLAY Team Sports Ministry is now a multi-community, multi-sport movement whose vision is "using the Holy Spirit to shape the spirit of competition."
